That afternoon Frank and Maddy saw the kids off to the movies. Then Frank told Maddy they needed to have a talk. Maddy was caught off guard. "What's wrong Frank?" she asked hesitantly.
In answer, Frank took the receipts and laid them on the table in front of her. "This is the matter Maddy. Is there something you want to tell me?" he asked her gravely.
"Uh, what do you mean Frank? Didn't I do them right?" she asked, squirming in her chair, feeling guilty, not lying but not wanting to come out and tell him what she had done.
"Maddy." he said, softly, and firmly, staring directly into her eyes. "Tell me about the chips."
Maddy's face got red, then white, and she started stuttering, "But..but..how...bbbutt..."
"How did I figure it out?" he asked softly?
"I figured it out because I love you enough to know you. When you gave in so easily I knew you were up to something. I just had to figure out what. The budget helped me figure it out. And you lied to me in the process. You betrayed my trust in you Maddy. I'm disappointed that you sneaked around behind my back and purchased chips that I had told you not to eat because of your health and you let me believe you were doing what I had asked to do and then you lied to me about doing it by falsifying the receipts. Then when I asked if you had anything to tell me just a few minutes ago, you still didn't tell me. This must be dealt with or our marriage will suffer Maddy."
By that time Maddy was sobbing. "Oh Frank. I'm so sorry. I didn't think of it that way. I was just irritated that you were treating me like a child and I resented it. I only hid it from you because I didn't want to upset you. I didn't mean to betray your trust. I'm sorry. Please forgive me."
“Of course I forgive you Maddy. I love you. And while you may not have intended to betray my trust, you did set out to deceive me which is lying. You knew I had told you no more chips and you allowed me to believe you were doing as I had asked, when all the time you were sneaking and eating chips behind my back.
“I guess I didn’t see it like that. I only set out to not upset you and worry you. I didn’t think it was anything major. I’m sorry Frank. I really am.”
“I now you’re sorry, but in order that you don't do this again and to realize how deeply I care for you and our marriage, I am afraid I have no choice but to explain the matter of the chips, and your lying and your betrayal of my trust in a manner that will convey to you just how deeply your actions have wounded me,"
Maddy looked at him in puzzlement, which turned to shock and surprise as she found herself facedown over her husband's knee and felt the first of several stinging slaps administered to her bottom. At first she was too stunned to react. After several smacks, Frank lifted her skirt and proceeded to spank her more thoroughly over her panty clad bottom which began to get a reaction from her and she started to squirm and squeal.
